Criminal Defense May Help Those Facing Drug-Related Felonies

On Behalf of | Jul 12, 2018 | Felonies, Firm News

A 35-year-old man was recently arrested in Minnesota in connection with a serious drug crime. He now faces a felony drug charge. Anyone charged with felonies in Minnesota has the right to vigorously defend themselves against these types of charges.

The recent arrest took place following a months-long police investigation of the man. Police said that, at about 4 p.m. on the day of the arrest, they saw the man leaving a house with a tiny bag. The man then reportedly got into a car that another man was driving. Officers followed the motor vehicle and ended up pulling it over.

After stopping the car, police reportedly spotted methamphetamine on the driver-side door. The officers then searched the vehicle and allegedly found several grams of the same drug in the tiny bag that the man was carrying. They also reportedly spotted a scale along with cash totaling $500. An additional 20 grams of the drug was reportedly found on the man after he reached the police station. He now faces a felony sales charge in the first degree for the controlled substances reportedly found on him and in the bag he was seen carrying.

The man facing a felony drug charge may proceed to trial to fight the charge. Alternatively, he may seek to negotiate a plea agreement with prosecutors, which may lead to a lighter charge and thus a more lenient sentence than what can generally be expected following guilty trial verdicts involving these types of felonies. Either way, an attorney in Minnesota will push for the most favorable outcome for the defendant in light of the facts of the criminal case.
