Young father facing assault charges

On Behalf of | Jun 9, 2021 | Felonies

Law enforcement officers in Minnesota recently arrested a young man for allegedly harming his infant son. He is facing felony assault charges for the crime. If convicted, he stands to lose everything.

What happened?

The details of what happened are unclear at this point. According to reports, on Wednesday, May 26, police were called to the accuseds home located on North DeSoto Avenue on the 700 block in Glencoe. The initial call was about an infant having a seizure. By the time authorities arrived, the child, who was less than 1-month-old, was unresponsive. He was transported to an area hospital and then airlifted to the childrens hospital in Minneapolis for treatment.

The charges

No reports go into detail about the events that took place inside the home and allegedly led to the child having seizures. However, the father was promptly arrested on first-degree assault charges. It is unclear if he is currently being held by the police pending trial or if he has been released for the time being.

The potential consequences

The potential consequences for felony-level assault charges like this are significant. Not only is this individual looking at time behind bars, but he is also looking at hefty fines, court-ordered rehabilitation and the loss of parental rights — among many other things. There is a lot on the line in this case. Thankfully, the accused does not have to face the Minnesota criminal court system alone. Legal counsel can assist him through the process and also help him fight for the best outcome possible.
