Minnesota police were called to a Cabela’s store on a recent Saturday. Employees in the store accused a group of people there of shoplifting. The group included seven minors, ranging in age from 12 to 15. All seven minors were taken into custody by police.

Police say that Cabela’s employees told them that the group of minors had stolen an airsoft gun and a pistol magazine from the store. Investigators say the kids fled the store in a vehicle that had been reported as stolen. Police officers reportedly pursued the minors in a patrol car and eventually executed a maneuver that caused the vehicle the kids were in to stop.

A foot chase followed

Police say that the group of kids in the vehicle got out of the car and fled the scene on foot. Investigators used K-9 units and drones to pursue the juveniles. All seven were ultimately detained and arrested.

Not the only incident

This incident was not the only one involving an alleged stolen vehicle in the same Minnesota region. Another situation that occurred on the same day involved teenagers ranging in age from 14 to 17 who allegedly stole a KIA. There have reportedly been numerous thefts involving KIA and Hyundai vehicles in the area after a video went viral online, showing that these vehicles can be started with a USB cable. The juvenile justice system operates differently from the adult criminal justice system; parents of juveniles facing formal charges may seek consultation with an experienced juvenile law attorney before heading to court.
