Several Arrests For Felonies, Other Crimes Made At Festival

Several people were arrested during a recent Minnesota festival highlighting camping and country music. According to authorities, multiple people were charged with felonies at the yearly WE Fest, which was held at a ranch. In addition, several others were charged with less severe crimes during the festival.

Authorities ended up stopping 1,461 cars during the 37th yearly festival. This is an increase from the more than 1,300 cars stopped in 2018, but it is also a decrease from the 1,469 cars stopped in 2017. These stops led to nine felony arrests involving drugs.

The arrests also resulted in 45 citations associated with driving with a revoked, suspended or canceled license. Authorities said that the police stops also resulted in 24 arrests for driving while intoxicated as well as 16 warrant-related arrests. In addition, six citations were issued for minor alcohol consumption. The number of arrests made for drunk driving in particular is the highest since 2011. Authorities indicated that they focused on making arrests for criminal activity rather than responding to or investigating wrecks at the festival.

Facing criminal charges, especially charges associated with felonies, can understandably be frightening. However, an attorney can closely examine a defendant’s case and see if any holes exist in the prosecution’s argument. In addition, perhaps the arresting officer performed an illegal vehicle search, in which case any evidence obtained from the search would not be admissible in court. The attorney’s ultimate goal is to help the defendant to achieve the best outcome possible given the circumstances surrounding his or her arrest in Minnesota.
